The next reference project is the Kecskemét City Hall. The “fairy palace” is the pride of Kecskemét, located in the main square of the town and was built between 1893-1897 based on the plans of Ödön Lechner and Gyula Pártos. The imposing building’s complex style blends French Renaissance, English contemporary architecture and Highland Renaissance with Hungarian Art Nouveau. Ceramics played an important role, and the roof tiles and decorative inlays were all made in the Zsolnay factory.
Our lighting designers took great care in the first phase of the project to design the lighting of the building. We had to find solutions for a number of unique situations in the project.

The architect’s plans did not allow for lamps on the façade, so we used the floor as a solution for the decorative lighting of the building. It was a challenge to find a luminaire that would meet our objectives, i.e. asymmetrical light distribution, tiltable light source within the luminaire housing and with the required power. The next stage of the project will be to light the upper and roof levels of the building.
We are proud to have contributed to the regeneration of the Town Hall by designing and supplying lighting.
